NEWSLETTER NO: 4

Firstly, I want to wish all Club members a Happy New Year and here's looking forward to a safe and successful year in Motorsport.

Since our last Newsletter the Club has not had any competitive events but the social events have continued. Our club night out on 23rd Nov proved an even bigger attraction than last year with almost 50 people in attendance. As always the party went on to the wee small hours of the morning.

Yes it's that time of year again when we need to review the year's business and make plans for 2003. As always this involves the election of new office bearers and committee members. It is also an opportunity for you to renew your club membership. I would encourage you to make every effort to attend in order to share your thoughts and ideas.

Another date you will not want to miss is our Annual Dinner Dance and Prize giving on Sat 1st Feb, Greenvale Hotel, Cookstown at 7.30 pm. Tickets are already in circulation and selling fast. If you have not already purchased yours contact Marie Averall on 028 7964 4190 or Seamus Donnelly on 028 7941 8270 before 20th Jan.

The J Caulfield & Co Insurance & Mortgage Brokers Club Championship awards will be presented at the dinner dance. You can check if you are receiving an award by either contacting- Alan Bolton 028 7964 5421 or visiting our website at www. magherafeltmotorclub.co.uk. Other awards presented on the night that you may be scared to receive are "Jimmy's gotchas"! Back by popular demand this year, you may try to behave yourself from now on but it is too late he has already made his selections!!

Last year we progressed Marshalling to Compete, which had been introduced in 2001. This initiative has proved a great success for the Club and indeed all Clubs involved. We have had more competitors volunteering to marshal and help run events that ever in the history of the Club. This is what we need to ensure that our sport continues to grow and survive. I would like to thank all Club members for the hard work, support and commitment that they have given throughout last year. We hope to build on this during 2003 and plan to keep this initiative in place during this years Club Championship. Please ensure that you collect your signature card when you register for the Championship. Remember no signatures no awards at the end of the year!!!! The first event in the Club Championship is the GMW Stage Rally on Sat 8th Feb. We are running a stage of this event for Mid Antrim and I would encourage you to support the Club and turn out to marshal at this event if you are not competing for details contact Alan Bolton.

Equipment - If anyone has any club equipment at home eg bibs, boards etc I would be very grateful if you could bring it to the AGM or leave with John McCann.

Finally I am sure you are all keen to see the dates for our own events this year. They are as follows:-

02/03 Davagh
24/05 Tour of the Sperrins
30/08 Time Trial
12/10 Sunset Rally

Remember this year we would like you to download the regs from the website. The regs for Davagh will be available from 16th Jan. This year we are introducing a new incentive where you may win a free entry! A draw will be held prior to each event and if the name drawn has been present at the 2 club meetings prior to the rally that crew shall receive a free entry. More details at the AGM on 23rd Jan ~ looking forward to seeing you there.
